What We Do

Our Service Offerings at Hemel en Aarde Farm

Care and Services

Our Guests enjoy grazing in well designed paddocks with natural protection from the elements, and auto-filling troughs with clean borehole water. Some horses are stabled at times, others live out 24/7. Feeding regimes are agreed with the Owner at outset and can be adjusted if required over time.

Our paddocks are all fenced to the highest standard and can be linked or separated, allowing for small groups or individual horses to be catered for. Our farm benefits from a very varied range of grasses, plants and herbs and has plentiful water. Grazing is carefully managed with frequent rotation and resting of paddocks. Swimming is also available in our large Dam for those brave enough to get very wet.

Jo is a Veterinary Physiotherapist as well as a Certified Equinology Equine Body Worker , so sports massage and soft tissue therapy can be provided on site as well as recuperation and rehabilitation therapies. She also specializes in myofascial release. We have an excellent local Equine Veterinary Practice who can treat your horse at the Farm. Barefoot trimming, Farrier, chiropractor, dentist and alternative holistic practitioners can also be arranged. Owners are also welcome to use their own Professionals.

Guests are welcome for both long and short term stays and transport to and from the Farm can be arranged. We also have a large well-maintained grass arena and safe riding tracks within our Farm as well as beautiful and extensive outrides. Our in-house Parasite and Insect Control Program includes daily paddock cleaning and all horses have regular worm counts taken to ensure we only use the correct products as and when necessary. This helps to avoid the ever increasing problem of resistance to worming products and ensure we use the appropriate treatments in line with the seasonal changes and horse’s individual requirements. External fly and parasite control is also part of our twice daily routine.

If there is something you may require specifically to suits the needs of your horse please feel free to discuss this with us.

    Stable Facilities

Our stunning Stable Barn has been purpose built with your horse’s comfort, safety, health and relaxation in mind.

The open plan Architecture allows full visibility between stables and across the central aisle, but stables also have split outside doors allowing a view across the paddocks to the mountains. Everything in our Barn was designed and purpose built to provide a state of the art Equestrian facility.

The Barn is incredibly spacious, full of light, designed to provide excellent ventilation, whilst also protection from the elements. There are also high power fans and Inspect Zappers and LED lighting throughout the Stable area.

There is a specially designed Vet area and Wash bay, with a hot and cold horse shower, soak away, crush, secure storage for veterinary equipment, which is also fitted with strong LED lighting should any treatment be required in the night.

Horses requiring special care of any kind can be catered for. We have excellent local Equine Vets if required and all night supervision can be provided. We can also provide rehabilitation, recuperation and foaling care.

Stable fixtures were imported from the UK, designed specifically for horses, including horse proof bolts and kick plates on the internal sliding doors. The paving was selected for its hard wearing, non slip qualities and all floors allow efficient drainage for cleaning and safety. Top quality imported rubber matting adds to your horse’s comfort when stabled. All stables are at least 4m x 4m with two larger stables of 6m x 4m designed for foaling down and keeping mares with their foals.

All stables have self-filling water troughs, although this can be converted to manual if we need to monitor a horse’s water intake. All stables are separated by high quality steel railings and privacy screens can be fitted between stables for horses who prefer not to have another horse so close. There are high standard Fire Hoses and Extinguishers throughout and all stables have easy access to waterproof electrical points and water hoses.

The Barn also provides accommodation for our live in staff, a totally secure tack room, food storage and comfort facilities for clients.
